My name is Justin Mitchell, and I’m a 6’1″, 185 lb linebacker and running back from Pawling High School, Class of 2027. Football has been a central part of my life for as long as I can remember, not just because I love the game, but because it’s helped shape who I am. As a three- year varsity starter on defense and a two-year starter on offense, I’ve learned what it takes to compete at a high level, lead by example, and push through setbacks with purpose.
Two out of the past three seasons, my team has finished as section runners-up, and I’ve been honored to be named 2x All-Section, 2x All-League, and New York State Second Team. While I take pride in those achievements, what drives me most is the challenge of pushing myself, and my teammates, to exceed our own expectations.
Leadership has been a defining part of my athletic career. I’ve been a captain in multiple sports and was named a football team captain as a sophomore and junior, which is something I take great pride in. I lead with accountability, energy, and a mindset focused on bringing the best out of those around me – both in competition and in the locker room.
Earlier in my athletic career, I faced an injury that kept me sidelined during games that were personally and competitively important. That experience taught me to never take the game for granted and pushed me to train with more focus and discipline. It also deepened my appreciation for preparation and recovery, which has sparked a strong interest in athletic training and sports performance, areas I hope to explore further in college.
In addition to football, I’m also a multi-sport athlete who has competed in travel lacrosse and travel soccer from an early age, continuing both sports through high school. I currently play varsity lacrosse and have developed a deep understanding of teamwork, competition, and adaptability through years of playing at a high level year-round. These experiences have sharpened my athleticism, versatility, and mental toughness, all of which directly carry over onto the football field.
Academically, I maintain a 3.58 GPA and plan to explore opportunities either in health or sports sciences, or business at the college level. I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing college football, not just to continue competing, but to grow as a student-athlete, teammate, and leader. I’m dedicated to becoming the best version of myself, and I’m ready to bring that energy and work ethic to a program that values character, accountability, and toughness.
