3/20/25 – Evaluation by an FBS Power 5 Assistant Coach – Strong road grader type, Physical in the run game, Would like to see that physicality show more when anchoring vs pass, Good athleticism and feet but is not the FBS level right now, FCS level for sure right now, Well coached!

Athletic Ability – Dennis is highly skilled at pulling and leading through the hole in his team’s offensive system. The 6-foot-2, 285-pound senior returns to anchor a front line that, last year, enabled the Vikings to average 241 rushing yards and 35 points per game. He showcases impressive lateral agility, lower body flexibility, and the ability to adjust and recover while moving. Additionally, he possesses long speed in his play. Dennis demonstrates quickness and playing speed that allow him to pull and get in front of outside runs. He has a strong ability to bend at the knees and sink his hips, which helps him block effectively with a solid base and leverage. He excels at getting to second-level blocks and maintaining those blocks until the whistle blows. Moreover, he is capable of effectively mirroring and sliding in pass protection, making him a very proficient pass blocker. (8.2)

Run Blocking/In-Line/ Out in Space – Dennis effectively utilizes his strength and size to block opponents both in open space and at the line of scrimmage. He demonstrates strong leg drive, a powerful punch, and a finishing ability, consistently gaining movement off the line as an in-drive blocker. Dennis quickly moves to the perimeter to block defenders of various sizes with ease. He excels at pulling while keeping his shoulders squared, allowing him to execute effective blocks in open space. Additionally, he displays excellent body control and balance when blocking moving targets. (9.0)

Pass Blocking/On Deep Pass Drops and Short/Quick Sets – Dennis quickly establishes his footing in pass protection, whether using a 3-step or 5-step drop. He consistently demonstrates the ability to slide effectively from side to side, allowing him to adjust to sudden changes in direction and various pass rush moves. He collaborates well with fellow offensive linemen, effectively communicating to switch off when handling defensive line stunts and linebacker pressures. With his athletic ability and toughness, he consistently finishes his blocks in any situation. (8.2)

Initial Quickness/ Out of Stance and Into Blocking – Dennis quickly establishes his stance in pass protection, whether he takes three or five steps. He consistently shows the ability to move laterally and adjust to rapid changes in direction and various pass rush moves. He effectively communicates with his fellow offensive linemen to manage defensive line stunts and linebacker pressures. Additionally, Dennis possesses the athleticism and toughness to successfully complete his blocks in all situations. (7.8)

Playing Strength/Use of Hands/Punch – Dennis shows exceptional hand usage during his play and keeps his hands active in every situation. He can punch and maintain his balance while sitting, quickly using his hands to control the defender. His ability to punch with great force stems from explosive movement from his hips. He demonstrates good form and technique for his size when making the initial strike against the defender. However, what stands out even more is how effectively he finishes blocks. (8.7)

Mobility/Blocking on the 2nd Level/Pulling/Trapping – Dennis is an outstanding athlete. He excels at pulling and getting outside to block on runs to the perimeter, and he easily adapts to block moving targets. He effectively short-pulls and kicks out the contact defender, creating an opening in the off-tackle area for the running back. Dennis is highly efficient at getting to the second level and does a great job of blocking linebackers out of the play. Additionally, he performs well in double-team and combo block situations, but he can disengage from a block if a defender pressures his play-side or backside gap.(8.0)

Smarts/Awareness/Size/Body Type/Competes – Dennis is an intelligent and instinctive lineman who shows great awareness as a blocker. He effectively collaborates with other offensive linemen to manage various defensive line stunts and loops. He is skilled at handing off defenders to his teammates and picking up delayed blitzes. Standing at 6’3″ and weighing 290 pounds, he plays with a level of intensity that exceeds what his size might suggest, using his strength to move defensive linemen. Dennis is a highly competitive blocker who quickly engages defenders at the snap, makes solid contact, and continues to block until the whistle blows. (8.3)

With his initial quickness and agility, Dennis can navigate the line of scrimmage and block defenders at the second level.
