Personal Statement

I’m a 6’4” Class of 2027 quarterback and three-sport varsity athlete at Mahwah High School. Competing year-round in football, basketball, and lacrosse has shaped me into a tough, disciplined leader who thrives under pressure. I earned First Team All-League in my junior season within my conference.  I led the Super-American Red in passing years (1,411) and total yards (1,933) in our 9 games. On the football field, I bring athleticism, a strong arm, the ability to extend plays, and a team-first mentality. I’m looking for a college program where I can compete, develop, and contribute both on and off the field.

Additionally, I surpassed 1,000 career points in basketball and 100 career goals and 199 points in lacrosse, earning 1st Team All-League, 2nd Team All-Bergen County, and 3rd Team All-State honors my Junior year.

Notable Highlights

All time passing leader at Mahwah High School as well as an 1000 point scorer in basketball, and a 100 point goal scorer in lacrosse. Received first team all league awards in football, basketball, and lacrosse.

MIKEY BRANAGH – FILM EVALUATION

Evaluated by Jerry Flora
National Recruiter | 33-Year Veteran Football Coach
13 Years as a Head Football Coach – 10 College / 3 High School

FILM EVALUATION

After evaluating Mikey Branagh’s film, one of the first things that stands out is his ability to create and extend plays when pass protection breaks down. There are numerous examples where pressure forces him out of the pocket, and Mikey uses his athleticism, awareness, and feet to keep the play alive.

Passing Ability

Mikey can throw to all levels of the field—short, intermediate, and deep. His film shows a variety of throws, including verticals, comebacks, curls, hitches, posts, and slants.

Athleticism / Dual-Threat Ability

His running ability makes him a legitimate dual-threat quarterback. He understands how to use the offensive system to his advantage, particularly on designed quarterback runs and pull reads.

More importantly, his athleticism becomes an asset when protection breaks down. Mikey can escape pressure, extend routes, and turn potential negative plays into positive yardage.

Football IQ / Awareness

Mikey demonstrates good football sense and awareness. When the initial route is covered or protection breaks down, he appears comfortable improvising rather than panicking. He keeps plays alive and gives his receivers more time to get open.

Areas for Development

Ball Security: When scrambling and extending plays, Mikey occasionally carries the football away from his body. He needs to consistently protect the football when escaping pressure and moving through traffic.

Deep-Ball Arm Strength & Placement: This is an important area for continued development. Sometimes receivers must slow down or wait for the football on vertical routes rather than continuing to run through the catch.

The next step is developing the ability to consistently throw the receiver open by putting the football where the receiver is going rather than where he currently is.

That ability, especially on deep throws, could become a key factor in separating Mikey from other quarterbacks at the next level.

Evaluation Grade – FCS/High D2 Level

OVERALL EVALUATION

Mikey is an athletic dual-threat quarterback with good football instincts, mobility, and the ability to make throws at all three levels. His ability to create when protection breaks down is one of the strongest aspects of his film.

Continued development of his deep-ball arm strength, anticipation, placement, and ball security should help him become a more complete quarterback.
