Athletic Ability – Dennis is skilled at pulling and leading through the hole in their offensive system. He demonstrates lateral agility, lower body flexibility, adjust/recovery ability to move, and long speed in his play. Dennis has the quickness and playing speed to pull and get in front of outside runs. He can bend well at his knees and sink his hips to block with a good base and leverage. Dennis effectively gets to second-level blocks and sustains those blocks through the whistle. He can effectively mirror and slide in pass protection, making him a very effective pass blocker. (7.9)
Run Blocking/In-Line/ Out in Space – Dennis effectively uses his strength and size to block both in open space and on the line of scrimmage. He demonstrates leg drive, punch, and finishing ability, consistently gaining movement off the line of scrimmage as an in-drive blocker. Dennis quickly gets out on the perimeter to block defenders of all sizes with ease. He excels at pulling, keeping his shoulders square to effectively pull blocks in open space. Additionally, he exhibits excellent body control and balance when blocking a moving target. (8.9)
Pass Blocking/On Deep Pass Drops and Short/Quick Sets – Dennis gets his feet under him quickly when in pass protection both in 3 and 5 steps. He has consistently shown the ability to sled well side to side to adjust to quick changes of direction and pass rush moves. He works well with another offensive lineman in effectively communicating to switch off to handle DL stunt and Linebacker pressures. He has the athletic ability and toughness to finish his blocks in every situation. (8)
Initial Quickness/ Out of Stance and Into Blocking – Dennis is quick to get his feet under him in pass protection, whether taking 3 or 5 steps. He consistently demonstrates the ability to move laterally and adjust to quick changes of direction and pass rush moves. He communicates effectively with his fellow offensive linemen to handle defensive line stunts and linebacker pressures. Dennis also has the athletic ability and toughness to finish his blocks in all situations. (7.5)
Playing Strength/Use of Hands/Punch – Dennis demonstrates excellent hand usage in his play and does a great job of keeping his hands active in every situation. He can punch and sit without losing his balance, and then he can quickly replace his hands with the defender to control him. He can punch with great force largely due to his explosion from his hips. He has good form and technique for his size when making the initial strike towards the defender, but what’s more impressive is how he finishes blocks. (8.5)
Mobility/Blocking on the 2nd Level/Pulling/Trapping – Dennis is an exceptional athlete. He is quick at pulling and getting outside to block on outside runs, and he can easily adjust to block a moving target. He does an excellent job of short-pulling and kicking out the contact defender to open up the off-tackle hole for the running back. Dennis gets to the second level very effectively and does an excellent job of blocking the linebacker out of the play. He also performs well on double teams and combo blocks, but he can come off if a defender threatens his play side or backside gap.(7.8)
Smarts/Awareness/Size/Body Type/Competes – Dennis is a smart and instinctive lineman who demonstrates great awareness as a blocker. He adjusts well with other offensive linemen to handle different defensive line stunts and loops. He can hand off defenders to other offensive linemen and effectively pick up delayed blitzes. With a good size at 6’3″ and 290 pounds, he plays with more intensity than his size would suggest, using his strength to move down linemen. He is a highly competitive blocker who quickly engages his defenders at the snap, makes contact, and continues to block until the whistle blows. (8.1)
Strong Points – Dennis is a skilled interior offensive lineman suitable for the FCS/FBS level teams or higher due to his athleticism, competitiveness, and football smarts. His combination of physical abilities and intangibles will have an immediate impact in college. His aggressive in-line run blocking, powered by his strength, allows him to effectively handle defensive linemen on down/side blocks. He also possesses the quickness to pull and contribute to outside runs, as well as the body control to adjust and block moving targets in open space. Additionally, he excels at short pull-across formations and can effectively open up the off-tackle hole by kicking out the contain defender. With his initial quickness and agility, Dennis can navigate the line of scrimmage and block defenders at the second level. Furthermore, his effective communication with other offensive linemen helps in adjusting to different defensive looks. Overall, Dennis demonstrates exceptional athleticism for an offensive lineman of his size.
